Four years ago, in the Report of the Auditor-General No.6 of 2021-22 Accessing services for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people – the Strong Families, Safe Kids Advice and Referral Line, we made 7 recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the Advice and Referral Line (ARL). The ARL is the ‘single front door’ for people seeking advice about anything to do with the safety and wellbeing of children, and to report child safety risks or concerns.

This audit report provides an update on the Department for Education, Children and Young People’s progress in implementing those recommendations.
